Winter Tech Week 2011

When:         December 6-8, 2011

Where:        Portofino Hotel, Redondo Beach, California

Information is power.   Winter Tech Week provides ETI Members with the opportunity for dialogue with the OEM’s and to receive the necessary information to provide the needed tools and equipment.  ETI Members gain knowledge of new technologies that affect the aftermarket tool and equipment industry, receive instruction on the servicing and repair of new model vehicles, and learn of repair and service tools that may be needed for the new models.

Through OEM presentations, panel discussions, hands-on demonstrations, and vehicle viewing these professionals discuss the upcoming service needs of new makes and models and the changes necessary in the tool and equipment industry to meet those needs.

Winter Tech Week is the only industry event where the OEM’s share information regarding their vehicles to ensure that the industry has the necessary information to provide the needed tools and equipment, showcase their new launches, and discuss any new tools or equipment that these new vehicles may require.

The main focus of ETI’s Winter Tech Week is to ensure that the proper tools, equipment, and information are in the shops by the time the new models hit the streets.  Winter Tech Week also provides an opportunity to ensure that everything is updated for models that have already been released.

In addition to OEM meetings, ETI Vertical Group meetings will be held.  These are important meetings.  Get updated on what is going on within your particular segment of the Automotive Repair industry.  Discuss what activities and projects we need to engage in as a group.  Remember, one of the major benefits of ETI membership is the ability to tackle issues on an industry basis.

ETI members and those who attend Winter Tech Week can:

·         Learn about the new technologies being implemented and plan for those new technologies

·         Learn about repair and service tools needed for new models

·         Gather specifications needed to ensure that vehicles are properly diagnosed, repaired or adjusted

·         Discuss information required by regulations and industry agreements

·         Learn about service procedures required for new models

Winter Tech Week provides automakers with the opportunity to:

  • Give instruction on servicing and repairing of new models
  • Discuss new technologies that may affect the aftermarket tool and equipment industry
  • Provide the information needed so that tool companies can provide quality tools and equipment
  • Listen to concerns and/or difficulties from other industry professionals
  • Showcase new vehicle launches and discuss any new tools or equipment that new vehicles may require
  • Collaborate with ETI members to determine the best course of action to resolve issues

The OEM Appreciation Dinner will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at The Automobile Driving Museum in nearby El Segundo (  The Automotive Driving Museum exists to preserve automotive history, interpret the historical significance, educate our guests and provide them with the opportunity to take a ride in one of the museum’s historic collector vehicles.

The ADM has a diverse collection of over 150 vehicles from all eras. The oldest example is an 1886 Benz Motorwagon and the newest is THE one-of-one 1999 350Z concept car that was donated by Nissan. The core of the collection features some great examples of Packard spanning from 1916-1958. The ADM was the first and only museum in the world that has identified, exhibited and will soon serve as the official registry for cars built by Howard “Dutch” Darrin, famous coach builder of the stars. Some celebrity vehicles belonged to owners such as Howard Hughes, Errol Flynn, Ry Cooder, Jean Peters, Anthony Davis and Eleanor Roosevelt.  All of the cars have fluid in them and most are used for our Sunday Ride Program.

Automobile Driving Museum was founded in 2001 by Earl Rubenstein and Stanley Zimmerman, long time automobile collectors and friends. They had dreamed about a museum that allowed the public to actually sit in and experience riding in a Classic and Special Interest Vehicle.
